A learning system that monitors chronic inflammatory diseases

The challenge

In Switzerland today, around 70,000 patients are affected by rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic inflammatory disease. Optimal treatment includes regular monitoring through imaging techniques such as X-rays or ultrasound. This monitoring is not only expensive but in some cases it also provides insufficient information and requires patients to regularly visit their doctor’s office.

The solution

medignition is working on a mobile solution using infrared thermography and machine learning algorithms to enable patients to self-monitor chronic diseases. With such a system, the number of expensive imaging procedures can be reduced. Plus, patients only need to see their doctor when it is necessary or whenever they wish to do so.
